Like Dantooine from the first game is in 2, but it's after a war so all the grass is brown, and everything is more brown and ugly. I loved how different and varied everything was in KOTOR 1, But in KOTOR 2 (probably because of the darker tone) everything feels more muted and similar to each other. I also had an issue with the different environments in the game. I like good writing as much as anyone, but at times it felt less like characters were talking to me and more like they were reading from a philosophy textbook. The writing was fine, but it always felt like there was way too much of it. People always praised it for Obsidian writing and the darker tone and themes, but it wasn't clicking with me much. I haven't gone back to it since then because I honestly wasn't loving the game much anyways. Just keep saves for as long back as possible, at least since the start of the planet your on, if not even before the planet you're currently on. It's possible those patches have improved over the years, but it's still something to be careful of. I tried playing it quite a few years ago in PC.Įven with the restored content mod and fan patch installed, I still hit a game breaking bug 20 hours in that wouldn't let me leave a planet after finishing the story mission.
